Simple Mahogany Casket


This casket is made of full thickness 3/4 inch plywood with a very nice looking luan (similar to mahogany, but lighter) veneer on the outside surface of the casket. The inner surface of the plywood is fir or pine and is a rougher surface than is the other smooth, outer face. The outer luan surface varies in color from blonde to a medium red with a combination of the two being most frequent.

All joints are constructed using screws and glue for maximum strength. This allows the casket to be used as a functional article of furniture for a lifetime. Trim joints are tight 90 degree angles and corner trim is smooth sanded pine as are all finish pieces. The entire casket is oiled with natural oils inside and out to bring out the magnificent colors of the woods used to make a unique casket.

Handles are of thick, white cotton and the lid is affixed using polished, brass-plated screws.

These caskets are perfectly suitable for a variety of uses as functional furniture prior to being used as a casket. They can be fitted with shelves and racks for a variety of purposes including bookshelves, entertainment centers, wine cabinets, armoires, gun cabinets, coffee tables and cedar chests, to name just some of the many possible uses for this handsome casket.
